Elora Bowl
Elora Bowls get their name from my step-daughter. When she was six, she asked me if I could make a bowl with/for her; she picked out the wood species and designed the bowl. My whole family loved her bowl so much that I started making more, and thus my first series was born!
These bowls would make an excellent gift for a family member or friend to let them know you care. They could be used for all sorts of snacks and meals, and as long as the owner takes good care of them, they will last for years and years.
The bottom layer is Spalted Maple; the middle is Walnut; and the top is Curly Maple. Spalted Maple isn't a type of Maple tree but rather one that has gone through the very early stages of decomposition, which is what gives it its beautiful colors. Likewise, Curly Maple isn't a separate or specific species of Maple tree but rather Maple wood that has specific figuring from how it grew.
Every Elora Bowl is hand-turned and therefore a little bit different. At its widest, the diameter is roughly 5 1/2” and the height is roughly 3”. Since no two bowls are the same, there can be slight variations of up to ½” between bowls. The base of the bowl is flat. (The revolving tray is for display purposes only and not included.)
While the pictures feature three bowls, Elora Bowls are sold individually.
