Cherry & Maple

There's a thin ring of curly maple set between two layers of cherry.

Spalted Oak

"Spalted" doesn't refer to a type of tree species but the colorful lines caused by the early part of the decomposition process. If caught at the correct time, the bowl will be beautiful as well as durable.

Walnut & African Padauk

The firey red of African Padauk contrasts nicely with the warm brown of Walnut.

Ambrosia Maple

These colorful lines are formed by the Ambrosia Beetle, which leaves small holes and striking colors and patterns. The drying process removes beetles from the wood.

Walnut

This bowl was made with multiple layers of Walnut.

Ambrosia Maple & Purpleheart

More Ambrosia Maple (see above) and Purpleheart, which is the actual color of the wood. If exposed to UV light, Purpleheart will eventually darken over the decades until almost black.

Curly Maple

"Curl" is a grain pattern that occurs due to compression and undulation.

Madrone

Madrone Burl is difficult to come across but absolutely beautiful. It's usually only available in smaller sizes. Larger chunks are available, but they are quite expensive.

Maple Burl

Wild, beautiful patterns. Maple Burl is more readily available than Madrone Burl, but it is still rare and expensive. Usually only available in smaller sizes.
