Wood Care
Caring for a wooden bowl is different from bowls made of other materials, but it's very easy. By following the tips below, your bowl will last decades!
My bowls are food safe!
- All bowls were made with Titebond II wood glue along with General Finishes Wood Bowl Finish, Odie's Oil, or Mahoney's Walnut Oil (all of which are food safe).
- You can use your wood bowl for foods like salads, popcorn, pasta, cereal, and fruit. Smaller bowls are perfect for ice cream and other fun treats!
Maintenance
- After eating, gently hand wash your bowl using warm soapy water (don’t soak). Rinse immediately and air dry.
- Extreme temperatures and prolonged water/sun exposure can warp or damage the wood.
- Wood bowls are NOT dishwasher, microwave, or refrigerator safe.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Store in a cabinet with other dinnerware or put out on display!
- Some species of wood have holes dug from insects when the tree was alive. If your bowl has these holes, don’t worry—the insects are gone! But, make sure to avoid foods that might become trapped inside inside the holes.
- Please don’t allow food to decay in the bowl. It will stain the wood.
- If you think the finish is wearing thin or damaged, you can extend the bowl’s life by wiping on some Odie's Oil, General Finishes Wood Bowl Finish, or Mahoney's Walnut Oil.
